Beyonce's "Drunk in Love" off her self-titled album, "Beyonce" released back in December has been one of the more remixed songs of the past few months. Diplo's own impressive remix was released a few weeks and was crazy popular, and yet I think sixteen-year-old San Francisco native, Andrew Luce, has the better mix. He goes a totally different direction with it, most importantly preferring The Weeknd's version over the original. I think it fits it better for the more laid-back vibe this track clings to and depends on. Luce recently signed to Red Cube Recordings and actually won Snowglobe 2013's opening DJ contest in Tahoe - pretty accomplished for someone as early in their career as he is. Surely there is big stuff to come. Yet maybe my favorite thing about Andrew Luce (besides this dope remix) is his crazy variety of music. He's experimented a lot: electro house, deep house, tech house, glitch hop, chill step, dubstep, trap, melodic, and more, all within a year. He's young and seeing what style fits him best. But I must say if this remix is any indication of him trying to figure out what works, I think he's got it. The combination of The Weeknd's vocals, with a sick background beat and electric piano, matched with terrific breaks, and most importantly, two dope funky drops, comes together as quite possibly the best remix of "Drunk in Love" I know. We'll see what comes next from this aspiring producer and for now enjoy a free download!
