I always think remixes to rock songs are interesting because they usually have a different tempo and intensity than pop or other electronic remixes, and it can be difficult to transition across genres and still have that dance-feel. Collin Mcloughlin has recently remixed Indie rock song "Transatlanticism" of Deathcab For Cutie's album titled the same, back in 2003. He says, "Transatlanticism,' has always been my favorite song by the group. I can remember playing the song on my CD player at home when I was young, wondering how they were able to craft such a sonic landscape that continued to build and evolve throughout the track. It is a beautiful piece of art, and one that still impacts me when I hear it to this day." With that in mind, it's no surprise he decided to take a jab at a mix of his own; adding in his own vocals as well. Mcloughlin has demonstrated that despite his vocal roots, he has effortlessly evolved into a dance music producer and DJ, finding his rhythm with melodic dubstep. It hasn't failed him yet and that definitely holds true for this latest rework. Check it out and grab a free download as well!
